Life drawing

First drawings

I found drawing with charcoal is very different to drawing with pencil, it smudges really easy and leaves a 'fuzzy' line which makes the drawing look quite messy. I didn't really get the right proportions for these drawings exactly as it was the first class I had. To get the right proportions and sizes I had to measure the head and see how many times it fits into the body then from this, all the other body parts are measured from the size of the head. This is so nothing looks out of proportion.

After measuring properly it was easier to get the right shape and proportions, this was also easier with pencil rather than charcoal as it was more accurate using pencil.

I did find it difficult because its so easy to stop looking at the model and make the drawing up, so I had to make sure I kept looking back at the model all the time to make sure I was getting everything in the right places.

John Currin

Ron Muek

Muek creates large sculptures which look really realistic!, the sculptures are very big and he gets the skin tones and textures perfect. I like these because they do look real also they are people in simple everyday situations.
