Graphics- how words are visually interpreted using typography

I was given 6 words, and had to write each word in separate thumbnails to represent the meaning of the word.

  • Rapid
  • Consume
  • Slither
  • Flowing
  • Detached
  • Stability

Visual connections with the words, using the colours and shapes I feel represent the words using magazine cut outs and different paper, these also show texture i feel that represent the words...

After representing each word with colours and shapes I then went onto picking four words to take on further and create separate compositions for each word using similar colours and shapes to the ones I had already made...

                 Flowing

 Detached

Consume

Stability.

I then experimented with the photocopier to change the colours of some compositions...

I felt that i should leave the compositions the original colours but just change the depth of the colours so went onto photoshop to do so...

Using photoshop, I changed the contrast and the darkness of the colours, I like how they have darkened and look grainy, i made the reds in the image much darker to create depth.

Final outcomes...
I decided to change the 'consume' piece to black and white with a high contrast, I used the typography from my original thumbnails to go inside the image, the letters get smaller and smaller as they go more into the middle of the image.

I darkened the colours on this one, i like how its gone darker around the edges and made it look slightly vintage. The typography is strong and stable.

I also made this darker using photoshop and added the typography with reference to my thumbnails.

I changed this on photoshop a bit more than i wanted to as i experimented with this one a bit too much. I think that the colours flow into each other so they represent the word well, also the type flows into and down from each letter.
